Ninth International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management

McLean, VA (near Washington, DC)
November 6-11, 2000

Sponsored by ACM SIGIR and ACM SIGMIS

The Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM) provides an international forum for presentation and discussion of research on information and knowledge management, as well as recent advances on data and knowledge bases. The purpose of the conference is to identify challenging problems facing the development of future knowledge and information systems, and to shape future directions of research by soliciting and reviewing high quality, applied and theoretical research findings. An important part of the conference is the Workshops program which focuses on timely research challenges and initiatives.

Registration for CIKM 2000 is now open. The early registration deadline is October 13.

U.S. Citizens, please note! November 7th is election day. Unless you are registered to vote in or around Washington, DC, you will want to arrange an absentee ballot.

All papers submitted to CIKM 2000 have been reviewed, and authors were notified on July 23, 2000. If you did not receive your email notification, contact Ian Soboroff as soon as possible. The final camera-ready version of accepted papers were due on September 8, 2000.

The original Call for Papers is available.

The CIKM 2000 Technical Program will take place on Tuesday, November 7 through Thursday, November 9. The program features parallel technical sessions, panels, and keynote addresses by Erik Thomsen of Dimensional Systems and Dr. Ed Fox of Virginia Tech.

Four tutorials will be offered on Monday, November 6. These tutorials offer in-depth coverage of topics in information retrieval, software agents, and mobile systems.

Finally, the conference will be followed by three workshops:
Nov 10-11 Symposium on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (GIS2000) (two days)
Nov 10 Data Warehousing and OLAP (DOLAP2000)
Nov 10 New Paradigms in Information Visualization and Manipulation (NPIVM2000)
